Magium is a text adventure game inspired by Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) and reminiscent of old Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) books. In this captivating game, you assume the role of Barry, an ordinary individual who dares to enter a perilous mage tournament. Barry's fervent aspiration to become a mage himself drives him to face off against the world's most formidable mages.

Similar to traditional interactive novels, the choices you make in Magium significantly impact the story and may even determine your character's fate. Alongside the customary decision-making component, Magium introduces upgradeable stats that can be enhanced with points earned throughout the game. These stats occasionally unlock specific actions; for instance, a sufficiently high Ancient Languages stat enables you to comprehend the speech of animals and monsters.

The story of Magium commences as you and your fellow participants are mysteriously transported to the tournament's location on a distant continent. Set within a medieval fantasy realm infused with futuristic magical artifacts, remnants of an ancient technologically advanced civilization, this narrative unites elements reminiscent of Dungeons and Dragons. Players familiar with DnD will undoubtedly detect similarities, particularly concerning the magic system.

Throughout your journey, you will encounter other contestants, make friendships and rivalries, and venture deeper into the enigmatic continent and its inhabitants. Six hundred years ago, a figure known as "The Creator" established several utopias wherein humans and animals coexisted harmoniously, fueling sustainable sustenance through magic. However, the narrative unveils the tragic decline of these once idyllic cities, many on the brink of destruction. The choices you make will influence their fates, affording opportunities to rescue them from impending doom.

Magium will be divided into six or seven books, each with an extensive word count exceeding a hundred thousand words.

The first book is fully available to be played free of charge. With approximately 178,000 words, equivalent to around 700 book pages, the branching path structures are duly accounted for within this estimate. On average, completing one storyline should take about 90,000 words, or roughly 350 book pages.

The second book is also entirely accessible, but subsequent books will be released chapter by chapter as they are written. Unlike the first book, unlocking the second and subsequent installments will require either the completion of 25 out of 35 available achievements or a payment. This unlocking mechanism carries over to all subsequent books.

The second book boasts a total word count of 277,000 words across all paths, equating to approximately 1,100 book pages. Exploring a single path encompasses roughly half of those words, amounting to approximately 140,000 words or 550 book pages.
